A general aviation license doesn’t mean a career change any more than a driving license means you want to be hired as a pizza delivery boy.
My point was more that it’s just a sign of the changing times we live in. Sure, I never went into the cockpit during takeoff, but even back then I can remember the cockpit doors being open during takeoff, leaning into the aisle, and peering out the windshield as we took off down the runway.

I have pictures of me somewhere from when I was 15 years old sitting in the captain’s chair of a 747 jumbo, somewhere over the Atlantic flying from Amsterdam to JFK. Actually, I think probably a couple dozen people on my flight (adults and kids) all have the same pictures.
