Honest question, especially for mixed Jezzies or those in mixed families: I'm white, married to a South Asian, and we have a child. When I meet other mixed families, especially of similar (broad term, I know) make-up, I'm curious, and I see it as a potential point of commonality. Other parents have thus far reacted

I think it's sweet. Bangladesh, represent (not me, I married in)!

I like to think I'm not taking liberties when I say it's not just brown people in disguise. You have allies and (some of you) family members out there fighting the good fight. I will always always (okay, maybe not under threat of physical danger, depending on the circumstance) vocally oppose anyone demeaning my brown,

Sorry to hear; I know how the migraines can suck your life away.

You and I just have divergent taste. I adore his style. I love the witty banter, long monologues and snappy dialogues, and the now-famous walk-and-talk. I didn't love The Social Network.

I concur. Anything that conjurs thoughts if GG is good! Have you watched Bunheads?

Okay, I see what the Jezzies see, but I see more that outweighs the crap for me (and some of you others, must, too, because there's no way you're all hate-watching this much Sorkin!).

Thank you for not seeing it! I take the point, but I have counterpoints, to be discussed down thread....

I'm in Northville. Hi, neighbor!

I am a movie lover, and a movie-game lover, but I cannot wrap my migraine-addled brain around this. Would you be so kind as to run through a favorite? I don't get it yet, and already I can't wait to steal it! Thanks in advance, assuming you're awesome.

I envy you your MIL and adore your username, though I was partial to Indigo Violet.

Well, if I offed her, TinyThinker would be really sad. My MIL is a fantastic grandmother.

Oh, Violet, you adorable little creature. I shall be exempt from any such rules and still invited to all the parties, for I shall have a pet sloth. I won't let it go to my head, though. Seriously, my parents are from Detroit. We keep it real.

Your timing is impeccable. YES! This happens to me with my chronic severe migraine. I get advice from everyone all the time, as if I haven't tried everything over the past 23 years, from herbs and acupuncture to Botox and narcotics (and everything in between). But no one gives advice like my mother-in-law, who

I want in on this; I'm totally Lincoln Bell Shepard. Her personality has obviously yet to develop, but I can only see good things from her between her Motown roots and her parentage of a Pixie-Spy and a Jackass.

You got it! When I first heard of Robin Thicke as a "thing," I did not understand how a white soul singer with Dr. Seaver for a father could seemingly have so much street cred. Then I remembered this: Alan Thicke is awesome.

Everything you do when you're preggers carries risks. I'm a chronic severe migraine sufferer, and I (heavily supervised by my neuro and my MFM) took anti-emedics, Triptans, and narcotics until the day I delivered. The stress from the headaches was harder on the baby than the stress of the meds.

I clicked it simply to see which song you chose, but I stayed until the very end. It is lovely and pure. I've always loved it because it has — for me, anyway — spiritual overtones without being overtly religious. Given my complicated faith, I love that balance.

I just want to share on this thread, though slightly OT, that I had no dream wedding in mind. We had to do three weddings: one at the Federal Court House (my Wedding is SCOTUS-sanctioned, bitches!), one in my husbands nation of origin, and one in the US (with a big-ass party). So money was tight.

My sister wears all-gold, fairly delicate signet ring that belonged to our great-great grandmother. I love it, both for the look and the sentimentality. I'd fight her for it if our ancestors/relatives didn't have tiny, tiny little fingers.
