Is there any following out there for say, dropping LS motors in these things? If so, it could make a nice sleeper platform, a la Volvo 240.
Ok, yes this was on the road and vehicles (and Russian dash cams, which have become this decade's DAF vs FAF) was involved, so the "literalatti" can't complain, "Why is this on Jalopnik"?!
Wow. That video pretty much confirms my worst fears about those tanks.
It sounds, based on that, that the scanner is just doing OCR and doesn't have provisions for different sized text. That's frankly, just poor programming right there.
I am totally in favor of limits on the storage of these items, or better still, having the systems remove the plate number read if it doesn't match something outstanding. That would leave them as just an automation tool, no different than a cop who wrote down everyone's plate. I'll cede that amount of freedom.
Whoever really takes blame here has just done more to clean up how both organizations operate and proof their content than any manager or any consultant or executive could have ever done.
FWIW, I don't see yours as gray. Mine show up that way though, and I've been here at least since 2005? Every time they release a new version of commenting, all of us old timers seem to lose something. Heck, I remember having to be approved by staff to be a commenter! Ah, the good ole days...back before Jalopnik was…
Yeah, that pretty much aligns with my limited experience there. The first time there were three of us in a rented minivan post-college and we somehow got lost trying to take Route 1 through it or something dumb like that? This was pre-GPS days and a local (likely a customer of your freelance pharmos) wandering the…
Thank you for posting that. I haven't laughed that hard in forever!
It's about the angle of the "wing" in the air. When the car can be "flat" the gfx work fine, providing more downforce. But when it hits a bump or similar, what were flat pieces with higher pressure air above them, pushing them down, now have higher pressure underneath them, providing "lift".
I vote crack pipe; only because it seems you'd have to go to Baltimore. I've been in that city once; the first time we came close to getting killed by the locals; the second time almost arrested.
By the tone of her voice, you'd think she was reporting on a bridge collapse!
I'm curious to see video results of this same small offset test with body on frame vehicles. Then I'd like to see them put an aftermarket full steel bumper on said vehicle.
Still, I'd rather have a missing wheel than a pulverized foot. On the other hand, I do prefer steel wheels.
Even more fun to watch is the wheel on a Volvo S60 separate, leaving the brake assembly attached to the face of the wheel, which conveniently separates from its cylindrical partner:
Glad to hear Porter made it out alive, albeit severely burned. He's lucky if he wasn't also hit by the car too.
When that Ka band goes off, so does my foot off the accelerator!
NYS Police run them too. Have since 05-06.
The only thing common in this village are pickups of all ages. Mostly contractors. There is a nice black Silverado I see now and then...that would work.
