Absolutely! I just brought her home from the hospital 7 pounds, 12 ounces. I could hold her in one hand and we drove on the highway at about 70 km per hour. All of a sudden she is 11 and beautiful and smart and funny and I know I am going to turn around and she is going to be gone, off to university. Gah!

I have a baby who still wakes up 2-3 times a night. If I don't have a nap once in a while he 'will' kill me.

Oh, they were so darling! Enthusiasm is so beautiful. Proost ladies!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, back up a sec. That last bit. Are you telling me that 14 years ago, 41 percent of lawmakers in Alabama would have continued to make it illegal for me to marry my husband?

I wish I was so completely brilliant that I could take the credit for that but I was quoting the genius of Douglas Adams. Thank you for the compliment though.

I went to prom in the 80s As I recall, there were some pretty hideous dresses then too! I'm not the only one who remembers, am I? I myself wore a crazy black velvet and royal blue taffeta Laura Ashley number. But I remember lots of horrifying pink ruffles and even some black and white checkerboard insanity.

No," he said, "look, it's very, very simple ... all I want ... is a cup of tea. You are going to make one for me. Keep quiet and listen." And he sat. He told the Nutri-Matic about India, he told it about China, he told it about Ceylon. He told it about broad leaves drying in the sun. He told it about silver teapots.

Remember when io9 used to talk about science? I miss those days. And I think the doll story was an Agatha Christie short story.

Use them together. Use them in peace.

A Story for Bear is a good choice for younger children. Can't read it to mine without weeping though.

What? No Shaun or Hot Fuzz?

So fabulous! It's all about the timing!

Sorry, I meant unsecure.

In a world of insecure data, what is to prevent companies from accessing your information in the future and drawing possible conclusions about your children, for example whether they are worth a risk to hire or insure?

Um, yes.

Squeee! I feel like skipping! You made my evening, Meredith! November 5th, can't wait!

That book nearly did it for me. I'm only reading to the end because I'm compulsive that way but I would have been happy if the first book was the only one.

Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?

I agree, these all made me really uncomfortable, looking at them. I want to go out in the garden and spin with my arms thrown wide now...

A movie that I really hated was The Ninth Gate. It started well but the ending was so unbelievably awful. I have a theory every other movie that Johnny Depp makes is a huge let-down to make up for the others that I love so much. Excuse me, I think I have to go watch Sleepy Hollow.
