You can play the second one, but there are tons of references to the first one, and a major plot point is based on the first one too, tho the second game explains most of the things as if you didn’t play the first one, but not everything.

I don’t know about promotions, but when Club Nintendo was giving away codes for the Smash/Pokémon/MonHun demos, some people reported they couldn’t use the codes they got legitimately in their mails. That’s when I knew that people could try to generate codes and steal them from their real owners.

And this (and more issues) is why I’m gonna wait for the GoY edition :)

Guess this story follows from the second ending of Dark Souls 2 (no wonder it was introduced with the SotFS). My impressions from the trailer, the land was without its true monarch so the land died. Also, the return of the Giant’s King? I’m guessing this will expand on the DS2 lore.
