You and I may think the very idea of putting guns in schools is madness, however there are people, many of whom are elected officials, that don't see a problem with that concept. My intent of pointing out the financial costs to this plan is to highlight how untenable it is in reality.

The financial expenditures are just one aspect of it, and that is the aspect that most conservatives who are pushing for armed, combat-ready teachers tend to focus on in every day life.

I have sat back and thought about the other side's logic and have determined it's absolute lunacy. First of all, who is going to pay for the training of these teachers to be master marksmen in addition to teaching class? Second, who's going to pay for the guns? Do we expect teachers to pay out of their own pocket?

Congrats on getting you dog tonight! I've had varying results with rescue groups when adopting pets in NYC. The shelters vs rescue groups have been much more pleasant experiences. Post a picture in this week's squee if you get the chance.

There is an easy way around that. Ask for a copy of the lease. But the most important point is if you run a rescue group/shelter in NYC, you have to deal with the fact that the vast majority of potential adopters will live in apartments they don't own. That is just reality. So you can either have dogs languish, or

The problem with that scenario is that I've been paying into the system for over 20 years, and part of the contract of paying into that system is that money will be there for my retirement and healthcare. You can't tell me after years of footing the bill for baby boomers that I have rely on my own personal savings

Once again, you are repeating ALLEGATIONS from a man who pursued in a vehicle and on foot then shot an unarmed minor.

All of my pets have (had) their own songs that I sing to them. The Big Cat's song is Soul Coughing's Super Bon Bon. "Move aside and let Biggie go through, let Biggie go through" is just how he runs his game.

And that scenario is an ALLEGATION not fact. It is an allegation from an adult male driving a SUV who got out of his car with a loaded gun in order to pursue a minor walking home from a convenience store.

Actually, that scenario of Zimmerman returning to his vehicle is an allegation made by a man who shot and killed a teenager. What facts we do know is that Zimmerman spotted Martin walking home from a convenience store, pursued him in an SUV then choose to pursue on foot with a loaded gun. The shooting was not

Well, if an unarmed teenager walking home at night after buying ice tea and skittles from the convenient store is pursued in a car and then on foot by an adult male with a gun who has a 100lbs on him, he has reason to fear for his life and defend himself. But don't let your bigotry get in the way of facts when you

Actually, it's more meaningful than call the police directly. Calling the police directly in the US means lots of call waiting. That's why it's an emergency number. 911 in the US isn't just an operator passing the info to the police. They under go specific testing to be eligible for the job, and specific training

I was just commenting that the circle of all of MsxHill's right to comment regarding a secluded room of puppies that no one is obligated to enter at a university none of us go to is now fulfilled.

So, for police services, you would ignore their directives even if it keeps you from shooting an unarmed teenager walking down the street who had every right to be there? Good to know. However, if you feel they are only for "advise," why call them at all? Actually, why ask for police assistance in the first place,

What are these 999 operators that you speak of? I only know of 911, and most people call them under the belief that they are contacting emergency services. I mean if someone is choking thus you call 911 for help and they give you directions to assist the victim, do you disregard it?

We know enough of what happened. He pursued and shot an unarmed teenager because he thought he shouldn't be there based upon the color of his skin. And I was not aware the community hired and granted Zimmerman the authority to pursue and shoot black teenage males.

And on the same principle, MsxHill can comment that it's weird that the op would feel compelled to tell us how awful a secluded room full of puppies that she is totally not obligated to enter would make finals. The circle is now complete.

Also weird about this comment is "a super tiny majority." What is a super tiny majority? Is that actually the minority? But anyhoo, I missed the memo where puppy rooms became mandatory along with reading about puppy rooms then commenting upon said puppy rooms. Clearly, the fascist, socialist, terrorist have won.

And what sort of positive discourse should we have with someone who is certain his worldview "boggles" the mind of Gawker writers? I mean great for you that you feel you are successful and lack "white guilt" and whatever that entails, but so what?
