The safety record will be so well proven for autonomous-only cars that they will have no passive safety systems and will merely be hollow pods for hauling people and cargo.
It might not even be that. It’s more like the problems in a certain category could be so severe that problems in other categories haven’t had a chance to surface. For example, if the audio system electrocuted the driver, other issues would not likely be reported posthumously.
