Probably, I'm not from the US, and my Samsung Galaxy doesn't have CIQ. It is a modified rom, but its based on the original and I'm sure CIQ doesn't exist in either.

7805's won't heat up when charging a mobile phone. Also, a reduced voltage of 4.5 - 4.7V at a 5 - 5.5V input should probably charge the phone.
I don't think that would be good for the apps. Its a situation where the App maker says "We're offering these services for this data from you". If facebook would allow you to tick off data you didn't want to provide, the app makers would lose out.
I managed to return the casing and get a USB 2.0 one and a separate MFP / USB Storage "Print Server" Back to the old speed, but now I can share my devices across the network.
So I bought a USB 3.0 Casing for my hard drive and a PCI Express USB 3.0 Card to work along with it only to realise that the stupid motherboard only has a single PCI-e port which is used by the video card. Bummer.
I convert any CD / DVD to ISO and toss it off. Their shelf lives are barely long enough to make me want to keep them.
For something supercheap, get yourself a sheet of sunmica.
