Is it actually free, or is the key for something like a season pass or in game currency? Like how brick and mortar stores sell boxed copies of games like Fortnite that are just codes for some skins an whatnot.

From the dev interview it sounds like you unlock their “ultimate” costume as well as their “ultimate” move by maxing out your relationship with the character, so I think it’s more of a reward for doing that.

In the dev video they reveal that the more traditional mystical Midnight Sons group does exist, but they need to bring in the other heroes because of the scale of everything. It also looks like that since tech is involved with summoning Lilith, they may have needed the help of more tech oriented people like Iron Man.
