Well, hey, now that we see literally every moment of her day is full of peril in the Mad Maxian hellscape that is Jakku, maybe people will stop calling her a too-competent Mary Sue. If your world is trying to kill you on a daily basis, you’re going to develop some skills.

One of the major characters in the current comics is gay: Doctor Aphra. She’s had her own book and she’s currently teamed up with Luke in the new Screaming Citadel mini series. There’s a few other minor characters too, but she’s probably the highest profile.

I have feeling that the show wont make it past the first season and then it will get absorbed into Legends of Tomorrow. I hope not, but it may be another Constantine.
