I would agree with you in principle, but I live and shop in a part of my town where if you didn't let people out, they would be there a long, long time. It has become a necessity to let people out due to poor urban planning and everyone locally knows it.

Re: rewatching, I'm fairly sure I've seen every episode of ST:TNG at least three times. Even the horrible season two episodes. Same thing goes for much of the X-files. I quit after just a few shows because I know that probably I could get up into years if I took that into account.
I got up to about a month and a half and then had to quit. I think I'm going outside for the rest of the day.
