For some reason this makes me think of the tremors sequels. We have a world, we have a threat and characters who have adapted to that threat. But, oh no, the graboids have evolved, they can fly now!

It’s exactly like The Happening in that once you see them you immediately try to kill yourself. I was pretty underwhelmed by it...

Has anyone seen Gwnyeth Paltrow (with a head) recently?

Having just seen it, this is true. But I still think the Pitbull song clashed with the rest of the film.

Most of the movie is completely ridiculous.  Mostly in a good way.

Hopefully Namor lit a match.

“Toot”?  :D

Hey careful don’t hold that thing where someone could grab it.

What is magic, but a series of existential loopholes?

“After her uncle, Théoden, tells her she can’t join the fight because she’s a woman”

What’s funny is that doesn’t even hold up in the films, Merry had lost his dagger (which came from Aragorn instead of Tom Bombadil) by that point and was using a sword from Theoden. And either way it was the dagger, logically a man weilding it would have had the same effect.

Yes, but what about “Second breakfast”

Tolkien’s actual words:

It seems a bit disingenuous not to mention that while the line “I am no man” is used in the movie it’s really a variation of Tolkien’s ‘But no living man am I! You look upon a woman...”. No matter how it is stated, it’s a fantastic moment in both the book and in the filmed version.

and the fact that there’s like zero chemistry between Heard and Momoa contributes - which, smh, how you can’t be smitten with that giant teddybear of a dude idk - maybe she was just pissed off at her terrible wig the whole time. yo no se.

I saw it last night. It was a ton of fun. Nicole Kidman and Amber Heard are especially good, and Jason Momoa as a presence really makes the character work.

I read all of that in John Mulaney’s voice.

Who would ever buy Jared Leto in a role that involves him forcing himself upon others to get what he wants?
