Ah yes of course, patriarchy! And here I thought feminism existed so that we could all be perceived as individuals and not some member of a collective woman horde.

Hahahahaha oh my goodness. Thank you! I so feel for you right now. <3

Excellent satire, A+.

Oh, I do that too. Eventually the neighbors become acclimated and stop complaining.

Seriously? Because that show sucks.

I think it's sweet that you think that we Americans understand our own constitution.

Oh, plus their names, their ages, what year they disappeared, and where they vanished from.

"Ellas estan desaparecidas" <— these women are the vanished ones/these women are missing. It names them as "las desaparecidas," which is the shorthand name for the women in Juarez who have gone missing over the past two decades. It's incredibly depressing.

Fellow non-trad here! I get that a lot too. Not so much during my undergrad (I graduated last year, at 35, and went straight into an MA program) but grad students are the worst. I get treated like I'm a dimwit. It sure is fun to be smarter than they are, in front of others, but they sure don't react well.

On the contrary, I think your attitude is fantastic. Fuck `em. Pretty isn't everything. It's not even most of the thing. I've been, I think like a lot of people, conventionally attractive, ugly, overweight, underweight, "pretty if..." and plain, and how people react to me in each phase has said a lot... about them.

Yeah, this. I actually am in a long term relationship with somebody who really, honestly doesn't care if I'm "unpolished" and I'm a grad student, so I have the luxury of not having to wear makeup or worry about my looks beyond a cursory glance at my face to make sure there is nothing on it, etc. Not that I really

I used to have the same complaint, so I stopped wearing makeup, and hacked off all my hair, and wore only baggy clothes. And then I realized that I was getting exactly the same amount of attention, only from a different subset of men (many of whom were even more aggressive.) I think it's just part and parcel of

I love your "intense migrant" typo. I live with somebody who is often confused with a migrant, and he is quite intense.

I'm stunned this doesn't have more recommendations. It's long been something that doesn't sit well with me re: Jezebel. The "Mean Girl" quotient is way out of control... although it's gotten better, believe it or not.

I feel like there should be a word for that. Something to do with how all these things... intersect.

Especially in San Diego.

This, this, this! When I was reading this, 90 percent of me was cheering her on. 10 percent of me (the 10 percent I'm most ashamed of) was wondering if she had another job lined up. Oh, and 100 percent of me was thinking she should ask for a hell of a lot more than she did.

"How come a cute little girl like you hasn't gotten married yet?"

When I worked at CNN, I made 42k. All my former colleagues were like, "How'd you land THAT amazing job?"
