What a bunch of Juchebags.

Analog style watches are popular because they show volume of time, rather than simply showing the current time. The same goes with car gauges.

Thing is, you can’t see a number in your peripheral vision; it’s always just a jumbled mass of characters unless you take your eyes off the road (or track) and actively look at them. With analog gauges (real or otherwise), as long as you’re familiar with the dashboard you only need to see which direction the needle’s

Except it’s NOT the same font. It’s a very similar sans serif font, but it’s not the same... old font was better.

I disagree. This is one place where despite it being a bit of a skeumorphism, it’s one that makes sense. With analog gauges, you can get a pretty good sense of which way they’re pointing just from your peripheral vision. You don’t have to consciously read the display, you can just glance enough to get an idea of the

Hah. So true. Could you imagine the roads full of BRZ drivers... it would be anarchy.

You’re correlating automotive enthusiasts with safe drivers. I think those two groups are very often exclusive.

If you ever see me in a white (low-cut) t-shirt and (designer high top) sneakers with (impossibly short skinny jeans and) a suit (as I saunter out to my mommy wagon), you have my permission to (beat me so badly that you) murder me.

Or where to get the best business cards in town.

Talking to your wrist, ending every sentence with “in my Volvo” and then giving a sultry glance towards your Volvo parked right-fucking-there, all while wearing a three day stubble and a t-shirt under a suit that’s two sizes two small and a pair of $500 sneakers - I guess Volvo’s trying to take the “douchey” market

While this is a good step in the right direction, higher downforce is a big mistake. We should be LOWERING downforce by 30%, increasing mechanical grip by 25%, and eliminating almost all electronic aids. A small increase in the fuel flow too, so that the cars are a bit more powerful. So almost there, but not

The increase in mechanical grip makes sense to me since it’s obviously not affected by dirty air and would help in passing but I’m with Steph about the increase in aero downforce hurting more than helping.

If you want to make F1 more exciting, get rid of the wings. Sure, the lap times will go up, but the race craft will increase significantly, which means more wheel-to-wheel, more battles and a LOT more passing. This is why MotoGP is so much more thrilling to watch than F1. It also means that the constructor’s and

This is Kinja. I will work my old tired joke until it is dead, and then I will work it some more.

Ok I can see that. I’m east coast but always had a west coast state of mind so to me they were always cool!

1) 1955-1957 (‘57 shown) Bel Air was out-sold by the Ford Fairlane. The Ford got better reviews back when they were new. Now, the Bel Air will command twice the price of a Fairlane.

It’s not so much that it was unpopular...it was just supposed to be a cheap and economical car. Now, just try to find an unmodified rust-free example for less than $5k.

Datsun 510 seems like an obvious choice... But honestly, I’m too young to conclusively say whether they were considered cool or not when they were new, but I doubt they turned many heads in the era of muscle cars and British roadsters.

Calling out the obvious.
