It’s ready for a commitment, but I’m not sure about Subaru’s customer base. Some of the current CUVs and wagons are actually classified as cars, which doesn’t work so well for CAFE. Subaru will have to jump through whatever hoops necessary to get all of their CUVs classified as light trucks, but I’m not sure their

You have the situation backwards. You’re not looking for a reason not to finance. You’re looking for a rare situation in which financing may be of economic benefit to a consumer.

What cash are you using to make the loan payments? The cash you’re investing in assets with higher marginal return?

If you continue your economics education, though it appears you haven’t actually studied economics, you will eventually find yourself in an academic environment where someone can explain why below-market-rate financing doesn’t exist.

You really don’t know how mortgage amortization works?

There is no such thing as 0% financing. The net-present-value of the interest is included in the MSRP, and the auto maker is required to recognize interest revenue at the prevailing market rate as you make payments. You’re paying interest, and it’s showing up on the manufacturer’s or financier’s income statement,

Bruh, there is no such thing as 0% interest. Economics IS complicated.

When the government taxes you like a business by letting you deduct all consumer interest from your wages, let us know.

You’re right. Forget the Civic, I’m going to finance an S-Class. Every dollar I borrow at 0% is more income in my pocket.

Unless you have at least 1 spare vehicle, which you own outright, or you have access to exceptional public transit or you have a pile of liquid assets set aside for emergencies, it is NEVER a good idea to finance a vehicle. If you lose your job and you lose your car, you’ll go from middle class to bankruptcy in the

The article is right. Take the loan, and let the dealer gouge you on the interest rate so they are lazy about the MSRP and willing to throw in dealer options at no additional charge. Tell the sales staff how much you “need” the car for work or other banal life circumstances and tell them how the minor mpg improvement

Just a bunch of old white hairs expressing dissatisfaction that they haven’t managed to channel every American dollar into retirement benefits.

Miami can be great if they are willing to take chances. Florida State and Clemson already have the market cornered for shoddy clones of Big-10 and SEC powerhouses. Hiring a defensive guru like Al Golden was the safe play, and it back-fired accordingly.

Thanks for the COTD, Jalops. Keep on jaloping.......and verbing

Nah. Someone must tee up the ball ;)

Ewoks at war

Oh no. I don’t know my beige automative history as well as I thought.

Yup. In 1811, Dolley was backchanneling an arms-deal in the Senate, and she asked James if he though war with England was a good idea. When Congress asked Dolley why the President’s Mansion was burned to the ground she said, “don’t ask me, this was all my husband’s idea”.

Here’s the trouble with recommending an older used car to people who don’t care about cars.

People who ask others for advice are often just looking for someone to blame if it goes wrong.
