Yes, it was god-awful, but somehow the Eagle Summit and Plymouth Colt Vista were endearing. I knew a family with two. They were hideous, but they ran pretty well for an American car.

To be fair, truck owners who are upgrading their trucks aren’t going to be hurting. If their old truck made 17mpg combined, and their new Ecoboost (or whatever) makes 20mpg combined, they are actually much better off.
FCA should merge with BMW. Enthusiasts probably don’t want it to happen, but it seems like it would work on paper.
Haven’t seen this movie in forever. Gotta buy a new copy for my collection. Need to get A Bridge Too Far, also. Both have been lost somehow.
So you’d happily drive a 20,000lb car with 2,000hp? I have a feeling that everyone has a preference for the correct amount of horsepower.
Depends on the size of the vehicle and the required mpg. If it’s a 4500lb slab-fascia muscle car, then yeah, you’ll need north of 400hp to pull the ridiculously long gears. If it’s a 2500lb short wheelbase Fiesta ST, 160hp would probably do it, but 200hp is nice.
We take in $300B in corporate taxes. We give back half of it in the form of subsidies and abatement. DC begs companies to repatriate their profits and invest in the US.
The F-35 is bad, but the government is supposed to be building machines to provide for the common defense. Few people would claim the government shouldn’t be in the defense business.
It had to be reliable because it takes 20 years to get to 60mph. Can’t have a car fail before it reaches highway cruising speed.
I knew Apple maps was bad, but DAAAYUM
3rd gear: As weird as this sounds, I think Honda will help VW more than VW will help itself. VW has almost single-handedly poisoned the marketplace for turbos, and the Ford fuel efficiency controversy hasn’t helped the perception of turbos, either. Sure, the take rate is soaring compared to several years ago, but they…
These are everywhere, whether direct sales are legal or not. It’s almost becoming commonplace to see them in highland park, midcities (Southlake), and North DFW (McKinney). Some relations of mine live in the McKinney historic district, and they say it’s becoming the rage to have 100 year old Victorian or antebellum…
I can’t give you the benefit of the doubt, when you say we need to cap healthcare spending and increase education spending. This position is a generic talking point, with no consideration for public spending patterns. We spend almost as profligately on compulsory education as we spend on public healthcare, and the…
I’m not urging inaction. You insist the contrary because, in your mind, if I reject your bad advice, I must be motivated by idleness. It’s the same maniacal absolutism that motivates the average voter.
Besides irrelevant cliches about the military industrial complex, which you’d never quote if you compared military spending during Ike’s time with the present day, I’m not seeing an attempt at cogent thought.
You already know my opinion. The middle class is self-destructing because it is uneducated. Min wage is not our friend. Social entitlements cost far too much or they provide for too few people. The rich are not involved in the plight of the average American. No reason to daydream about nationalized medicine. It’s not…
We’re not going to nationalize the healthcare system so you can save yourself the needless pain of hoping for it. Besides we already have public healthcare providers managed at the local or county level. Single-payer works well enough in other countries, just not in the US. Private healthcare providers have the same…
