Then why don’t they just say that and have it as part of their ToS? I don’t really care if it’s banned on Twitch or not but having unwritten rules and expecting people to figure out why they were banned when they haven’t broken any of the written rules is a bad way to moderate a platform. Regardless of what anyone’s

It’s fine if they don’t want it on there. The problem is the way they’re handling it. Good moderation is fair (ie unbiased) and transparent. If there’s certain kinds of content you don’t want then there should be clear unambiguous rules against that content. If something breaks those rules you should be able to say

But you can stream Grand Theft Auto, a game where you can murder everyone on a whim. There’s not much of a difference.

He said Twitch employee. That could be practically anyone.

yet theirs a south park game that has rape of children in it and it’s not banned.

Feminism and “those people” as he described them are not the same thing

“It’s a game about a high school student murdering her classmates. And he can’t figure out why it’s banned?”

Other games which tick all the boxes you mentioned are currently allowed to be streamed on Twitch.

Why’s he crazy? As he poinetd out in the video, other games have the exact same content.

I see a lot of people not sympathizing with him because he pointed to feminism as a possible reason. I don’t think they realize that it’s been a full year with no response from Twitch. He’s scratching the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to potential reasons.

There are numerous other games involving murdering high school students that haven’t been banned. It hasn’t been explained to him why his game was banned and others have not.

The point of the video is that, for some reason, twitch is banning selectively and not answering questions when asked. You can stream dozens of games where you can kill high schoolers, even in high school but for some reason this one is banned. There is even a game in which you play as a highschooler and shoot

Where is this button. I keep hearing about it, but I’ve never seen it. Not that I’d use it very often. Most “trolls” are just people with differing opinions. Very rarely do I find a true troll, even on Jezebel.

seems like you didn’t watch the video...

Mortal Kombat is allowed on Twitch.

Some people think playing Doom lead to Columbine.

The sense I get is that he would be more than willing to work with Twitch to make a “twitch friendly” version of the game but he needs to know the specific reasons why they banned it so it can pass any approvals.

Yes, the content might be objectionable but there are many titles with objectionable content that get

Plenty of games contain violence inside a school. Danganronpa is a big one, Persona 3, Bully to name a couple.

Glad you wrote this. This guy worked his butt off, and to be denied broadcast without response is unacceptable. Twitch needs to get it together, as they are becoming (if not already!) a major force in the industry. They need to grow up and act consistently, and stop pretending like they are some boutique content

Adults make up the majority of gamers, but games are still treated as if they are for kids. The puritanical oppression is tiresome.
