This. The latter is just product placement. This is fun, in addition to being product placement.

It used to be a Vius.

Which is more acceptable, Ariana Grande in this or Cup Noodles/American Express/Coleman/Westwood Dress in FFXV?

Someone please mod the games so I can play Beautiful Uncharted Starđź’•

What’s funny to me about this incident is that it’s almost entirely white people that have taken a few too many liberal arts Women’s Studies courses who get offended by this.

The issue is that “microaggressionn” has become a buzzword for justifying toxic, anti-social, hateful behavior that does nothing to improve current social problems but in fact makes them worse.

The term “microagression” is a fucking plague on society that erodes any hope for peace.

You’ve never been to Azle, I take it. I have, and I fully believe my take on the situation is possible, if not probable.

She was told her actions were insensitive, she realized her mistake, and she immediately apologized. It’s revealing you assume her actions were motivated by malice when it’s much more likely to be ignorance.

Once again, you’re thinking that this woman has a lot of experience outside of that small town. She probably was just thinking of a gimmick, and that came to mind.

Is it racist? Yes.

Was it intentionally racist to be hurtful? I tend to think no.

This woman deserves to be told that her actions were insensitive so that she can learn from her mistakes

According to Wikipedia’s 2010 census data demographics, the tiny Texas town of Azle (pop. 10-11K) is 95% white and .22% (yes- point 22) black, so I’m shocked anyone there caught it.

Azle is a small town on the outskirts of Fort Worth (somewhat near White Settlement, which is a town name I still can’t believe hasn’t been changed). As such (and given some of the hand-painted signs I’ve seen in the area), I can fully believe that she was just unaware of the racial connotations of her “special.”

I…

It seems to be more a case of ignorance rather than malice. You can believe her intent was to insult black people in order to hurt her business and face a public shaming if you like.

I would say her actions were ignorant, not evil.

I also (sort of) get her comparison- not many mexicans drink Margaritas and wear sombreros but many tolerate it (or even expect it) at a Mexican restaurant or mexican themed celebration. Still she should know better...

This is a woman who made a dumb mistake and once she realized her mistake she took appropriate action and apologized. But fear not, roots readers! There is still time to shame her for her transgression!

Or that the study was about something more interesting and complex, and the reporters grabbed on to the footnote that made for a funny headline, then proceeded to take the headline completely seriously and treat it as the entire point of the study.

On a somewhat related note, often when you see news like “EXPERIMENT FINDS THAT BABIES ARE CUTE” or some other obvious conclusion, the point is often not that an obvious thing was “found”, more that it was confirmed experimentally in a scientific way, or that some discovery was made as to why.

You can also just make the cross blue or green or something.

I feel like I’ve seen lots of green crosses to denote health. This must be why.
