Yeah, last time I drove an auto (my Mom's Taurus) I found myself not paying enough attention to driving since I had nothing to do. I also nearly hit the car in front of me at a light because I took my foot off the brake on perfectly flat pavement.

Driving manual transmissions is not about "extra power", for most people it's about having more fun while being in more control of what the car is doing.
