I find that snacks in the car tend to go stale due to the car staying in the sun/heat all day, so this is what I do:

Buy a large bag of almonds and a small tin of almonds. Keep the tin in your car and refill it from the large bag, which you keep in your house or work so it stays cool!

FYI, if you live near a Publix, check it out. I saw one of these for $60 there two days ago. Because I love my Griddler, and I always vouch for it, I noticed it.

Sorry if this cuts into Gawker’s referral revenue, but hey use their link to get the waffle plates. They’re fantastic!

I’m assuming you can partially cover with a lid to get the same effect? Seems needless to waste parchment when I’ve got lids for my pans already...

We taught them to students when I was a teacher :)

Hahaha. We just had BLTs for dinner, with bacon-style tempeh as an experiment. I think we’ll stick with normal bacon from now on :P

I have an older model of this, and it’s my go-to “large gift” for people (graduation, housewarming, etc). It’s fantastic as described, but you can also buy WAFFLE PLATES for it, so you don’t have to have a whole different device!

Also, the plates are all dishwasher safe, so that’s nice.

This is fantastic on bread meant for sandwiches, too. BLTs, caprese, grilled cheese, pimiento, and feta+roasted eggplant sandwiches are all delicious with garlic-rubbed bread, in my experience.

You’ll be surprised how much a packed sandwich lunch is elevated when you toast the bread and rub on the garlic just before

Stainless steel knobs can resist even higher heat, and are safe to use with the broiler setting as well.

This deal sadly appears to be dead. Is there a promo code I’m missing?

How do you figure?

Best falafel I’ve ever made is from Yottom Ottolenghi’s book Jerusalem. They’re absolutely amazing fried, and now that you’ve brought it up I’m going to try them on my griddler waffle plates!

Here’s someone’s transcription (adaptation?) from the book: http://mykentuckyhome-kim.blogspot.com/2013/06/yotam-…

I’ve had a previous version of this one for at least 7 years. It’s good, and I’m glad the battery hasn’t crapped out yet. I bought the cleaning stand, too, but don’t bother. It’s just about time for a new set of blades, so I wish I hadn’t bought a replacement set back 7 years ago, as I’ve since lost it.

The first time this was featured, I bought it. I decided to test it out since there was some concerns on here.

No, especially since if you cut meat right off the heat source, you’ll lose a ton of juices since you didn’t let the meat rest!

Works great for me, but I have a whole power strip in there, hidden by the throw pillows. Endlessly useful.

Cooking, especially soup, can be quite affordable, and it doesn’t take that long. Here are some good, quick soup recipes:

Me too... I actually am going rafting tomorrow. Leaving at 11:00 AM, so there's a slim chance I may be able to take this with me. Very slim, but still!
