This was long ago, thankfully - this lady is likely terrorizing some other poor college senior these days. According to another commenter it sounds like she may have moved out East!

I had a customer overhand-throw a frappuccino at me at one point ("this doesn't have extra caramel in it!") and another woman who lobbed a half-empty peppermint mocha at me through the drive thru window when I wouldn't give her a $.50 refill (on a $5 drink, through the drive thru, the day after she got the original

I don't even have kids and I started crying immediately. Haven't stopped yet. The detail about the puppies is too much to bear, and the screenshots - with this tiny little boy next to his dad - are so poignant. I'm so sorry for this family.

That's what I've always done - I've actually never seen a store ask that you just leave your bag out. I take out my wallet and drop the with the front desk/cashier. I live somewhere super safe and I'd never leave my bag unattended!

I think it's maybe that so many people are ordering coffee in the morning that some will want decaf or half-caf and it gets used. As the day wears on, a less busy store just doesn't have so many people ordering brewed coffee at any given time so it's not worth keeping decaf on hand.

That actually WOULD make sense if they're ordering a cappuccino - that means they want more regular milk than usual (so, less pure foam). If it was anything besides that, though, who knows?

That's what I figured she was getting at - either a latte with extra foam or a cappuccino. Not generally the term one would use, but I thought I had the right idea - not so!

I wonder if they're trying to go low carb...? My only other thought is that some artificial sweeteners actually taste way sweeter than sugar so maybe they just liked the taste?

An extra foam latte with whipped cream (even with whipped cream under the foam)? Totally fine, as long as you ask for it that way! I'm all for adding whipped cream to stuff, doesn't really matter what it is.

How else could this possibly have come about? It's worth noting that this was in a smallish town in the Midwest so you're probably right that she thought it was terribly cosmopolitan.

I'll drink a small cappuccino now and then but otherwise I'm with you. Black coffee. Gets the job done, no screaming at the barista or holding up the line necessary.

What's so nuts about this is that not only are they asking for something that does not exist, they are convinced that you are the idiot who doesn't understand coffee words. It makes you feel like you're going crazy.

This comment went a long way towards healing the wounds left from dealing with customers like this. Thank you.

If you take your coffee this way you should treat it as a dark and terrible secret and make it in the privacy of your own home with the shades drawn. You should NOT order it at 7:50 on a Thursday in a drive thru.

Horrifying, right? Yuck.

NO FUCKING WAY. I was actually wondering if anyone would recognize it - it's so fucking crazy that there can't be more than one or two people in the world ordering it.

I used to have a regular customer who wanted a "dry latte." So... a latte with extra foam? No. A cappuccino? No. Here's what she wanted:

This is definitely not the point, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a huge crush on Noah Hathaway as a kid.

It may be time for some hatchetations.

Yep, I'm not squeamish at all and grew up listening to hideous medical stories (my parents are in medicine and talked about it over the dinner table) but THIS legit made me gag.
