People are pissed off/put out/irritated...whatever... because she doesn’t say bitch? Good for her. And enough with “bitch” flung around like a wimpy, weasly bit of macho. Ech.

When autumn comes around, can we have another chapter like this on parsnips? A sublime, neglected and forgotten jewel that falls somewhere between carrot and turnip. Roasted with onion, apples, thyme, etc... and lotsa other stuff, amazing.
This kind of self-ravaging witch-hunting was endemic throughout the late 70s. The rage at opressors turns inward.
Another observation: GROWNUPS on planes are a lot more obnoxious than they used to be. I’ve been living in Europe and flying home regularly to the US for 26 years, and it’s only in the last 5-10 0r so that the whole damn world seems to think that the aisles are for amateur Riverdance, hang over the seatbacks yakkin’…
Anybody who doesn’t want to deal with kids on a plane can pay extra for an airline called OnlyAssholesOver18.
I live in Europe and know a ton of people, men and women, who have had international custody battles. I don’t blame the mother who has the same nationality as the kids for playing hardball. Once one parent books to another country it’s really hard to get kids back. And expensive.
Meh. Monaco is one big Rodeo Drive.
Oh, I totally agree, I just meant that he doesn’t have the embryos yet. But yes it’s infuriating and will set an awful precedent.
Well, from what I read, this doesn’t give him the embryos yet, just the right to sue. Any lawyers out there to help us with the details?
Back then a lot of women had absolutely no choice if they wanted out of a marriage. I was a kid then but trust me, it was the stone age for women’s rights.
Behavior like sexual assault is usually progressive. Rapists often begin with peeping and groping and then move on as they get older, stronger, more experienced and find themselves in life/work situations that afford them control over victims and ways to cover their behavior. I’m attaching this link to a part of Gavin…
That makes me wonder if abuse could be the root of Amanda and Britney’s psychological problems. No, not wonder. Strongly suspect.
30 years ago at the age of 30 I had a tiny pre-cancerous leision removed from my back. The dermatologist told me basically, use lots of sunscreen, but stay out of the sun. Totally.
The need to belong and please and be part of the stronger group no matter who they are.
I’m the same age as Sally Draper (from a family with less money). I’ve seen a lot of changes, and a lot of backsliding. Yes, a lot of older feminists are angry in lots of ways for lots of reasons. I guess I’m just posting this comment to say: if you’re a woman, and you’re not angry about the status of women in the…
Poor Brooks. All alone. I haven’t been so moved by a man discovering he’s not the center of the universe since back in the 80s when Bob Greene discovered to his horror that having a baby meant that his wife wouldn’t automatically have dinner on the table when he arrived home every evening.
Depends on your definition of expat. Most people who stay more than 2-3 years can be trusted. And BTW most people who stay that long also stop referring to themselves as “expats” which is a phrase used only by Ivy League Junior Year Abroad brats, well-financed and apartment-supplied corporate brats, and backpackers…
I live in Madrid (since ‘89.) Traditional small neighborhood businesses are closed at mid-day, but if you go to any major capital to see cultural sites, most will be open. Things have changed A LOT in many countries in the last few years, so don’t just take the word of people who spent their junior year abroad, or…
