Im not in the business of telling people how they should and should not raise the miniature versions of themselves.. However I do wonder what they think will happen when that child goes off to college and experiences the unfiltered world they were shielded from for 18+ years.

I agree that getting suddenly filthy rich won’t guarantee you happiness and may cause problems. But I’ve never found working in a boring job 8-12 hours a day to stave off poverty is any sort of spiritual Nirvana either. I would be willing to experiment with a different set of problems for awhile.

That’s not a sharpener, it’s usually a ridged honing steel which is only meant to touch-up a slightly dull knife by straightening the bent over edge (which is the first thing that happens to a knife as it dulls). It won’t sharpen a really dull knife and you can’t touch up small nicks or chips with it.

As a parent, this is exactly what we do when we don't understand what the problem is asking to solve. I'm always pleasantly surprised when my daughter proves to understand the concept, even if she's still shaky on the execution.
