wow that’s terrible. a bench grinder is for rapid material removal and may be suitable for lawnmower blades *maybe*. everything else needs to be done on stones!
What precision work are you talking about? I sharpen my woodworking tools to razor sharp, and can do it by hand in a few minutes from totally dull. It’s a learned skill, but a relatively easy one to master. Certainly easier than cooking.
