As for using Google Voice, doesn't work overseas with a different SIM/mobile number. I've tried it while voyaging throughout South America. Google requires a north american number to be registered. You get a message stating; "International numbers are not supported as forwarding phones".

With a FAN (business) account, which I have. They allow you to add the feature and take it off any time.

Google Voice does not work overseas, unless you use a VPN on your smartphone or computer.

Actually, I've been to Machu Picchu in December of 2010. There is no signal even though operator, Claro, states there is coverage there. I did see Nextel working there.

The thing is, with 3rd party vendors or authorized dealers, if you cancel not only do you pay the ETF, but also a large sum of money to the 3rd party. In many cases, they'll have restrictions if you make any changes to your plan or penalties within the first year. That's why they offer you freebies or better subsidies

So what happens when the servers to this service/site gets hacked?
