In many countries in South America, before you buy a prepaid, it is an enforced law that one present government issued photo I.D. because of criminal activities. So yes, it is a serious matter.
This actually works for me. I am currently in South America and traveling a lot. To call back home in the states, all I need is a hotspot or just use data instead of paying for an international call.

Have you gone to Account Settings and changed to English (UK)? It brings back the old layout for the meantime. So you can have a proper goodbye.
If you don't like the layout, go to Account Settings and switch your language to English (UK). Done!
Really? A few of my friends have done it, and it has worked for them. I'm using English (UK) right now and have the old layout. *shrugs*
