I've held it and the xbox logo is the guide button. Also the d-pad feels really nice and clicks when pressed, the fat triggers feel good and the sticks feel super responsive.

There are many free to play models, and rarely have I seen ones that put up a cash barrier. The usual model is that unlocks take a quite a bit of time and money is used as a shortcut. So the amusement park is free but the lines are super long and then you can pay to skip to the front of the line.

I think you will buy the next gen console if the exclusive titles are worth it. Gaming is all about the games not the hardware.
