Eh... I’d agree with this if we weren’t talking about Square Enix. The simple fact that after the backlash to FFXIII, they went back to the well two more times, and then made FFXV, says to me that the amount of copies they sold were enough to make them not care to go back to more traditional FF games. Or, less likely,

What is this world?

I don’t disagree with the bosses thing, but the rest is just madness.

Jeez. June 25th. That blows.

uhhh... it’s 2020

good week

I managed to get first in line at the midnight release, by showing up about 5 hours early. At first, I felt a little foolish being there so early, but after the first hour the line had gotten about 30 people deep. Simpler times!

Jeez. They managed to somehow make baby Yoda not cute.

I give a ton of credit to anyone dressing up as Ryuko Matoi and going into that environment.

The Wild’s Bizarre Breath

Hey hey hey... it’s OK. It’s Nintendo doing it.

She’s great.

Warren erased herself.

I’m actually really interested to see what it turns out to be. In a sort of, “so what do the developers do to address something like this?” kind of way. It is going to be an interesting insight into what they think our culture doesn’t like about it.

You’re right, and this article is woefully bereft of tangible information about that stuff. There is just a lot of quotes that don’t really paint a coherent picture of where the LGBT community stands in Japanese society. Although, something that I am aware of in Japanese culture is how fictionalized work is much less

What I’m saying is that culturally speaking, they don’t consider these characters to be problematic. This is proven out in the fact that they didn’t change it for the P5R release, but they did for us. So they ARE willing to make changes for the sake of not pissing people off, and yet they didn’t change it for their

To them, they aren’t doing it to make it better or to do the “right” thing. They are changing it to better suit a different culture. Why would they change it for a culture that doesn’t care about it so much?

I think people confuse subtlety with ambiguity. There is nothing ambiguous about the depictions of same sex relationships or interaction, but it was all very organically woven into the characterization. They didn’t feel the need to have Sionis grab Zsasz’s junk as he whisper horny nothings in his ear, nor did they

I think I can speak for us all here... as long as Switch sales aren’t disrupted, we have nothing to worry about.

Looks alright. This whole CG anime thing is finally staring to bear some real fruit. As well as getting it to look right, I think these studios have learned a lot about what does and doesn’t work when translating these different styles. It all looks remarkably close to the character designer’s art style.
