Again, you're just arguing now things that are only in your head and have nothing to do with my original statement. Well done.

Why do comedians have to be funny all the time for you to appreciate what they do?

Not even just a little bit, it looks like a straight up rip off.

If you honestly think that Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran or Louis C.K. do low brow humor and aren't funny, it's no wonder that smug and witless comedy like Gervais works for you.

Watch Talking Funny, he definitely isn't playing a character - that's just who he is.

I see Elmo, who is awesome, carrying a smug git who couldn't be trying to hog the camera more even if he jumped up and rubbed his face in it.

As noted, C.K has matured and changed entirely in his tone and style. He used to be far raunchier and filthier, ending his jokes more often than not with stuff about masturbation and bodily fluids. Now he's far more eloquent, discussing life, marriage, his kids, aging, the world in general. It's matured and far more

Louis C.K has actively changed his material in tone and style every year. Moran goes off every two years and writes completely new material as well. Neither have the same kind of stuff in their latest specials that they did in their early stuff ten years ago. Bailey actively switches from musical comedy to surrealism

Oh this is glorious. Yoinked.

Just watch the stunts off Youtube. The movies themselves are forgettable rubbish.

C.K., Moran and Bailey all throw their material out every year and write new stuff. In Talking Funny Gervais pretty much states that he'll just ride old stuff if he can get away with it, because screw the audience.

I understand his material well. It's just not as smart as he thinks it is.

How so? Gaffigan is like a Muppet himself and both Moran and Bailey have the personalities that would suit a Muppet movie perfectly. Gervais just comes off as smug and arrogant no matter what he's doing. Check out the Talking Funny and you can see how laid back C.K. is, I think he'd do great in a Muppet movie.

You said it, man. *Continues to cozy up with Galaxy Express, Captain Harlock and old Ghibli classics*

I haven't watched Derek, because, hey, what do you, Gervais. A couple of friends have watched it and have said that it's not worth the time - and there's just too much good TV around anyway.

On the contrary, I love comedy. I just intensely dislike that smug social climber who's been doing the same "edgy" stuff for a decade now.

At the risk of sounding like one of the internet comments from the trailer: Has Ricky Gervais in a major role = no sale.

Anything that isn't Ghibli or Leiji Matsumoto or Cowboy Bebop can pack their bags and leave. There, I said it.
