Actually what will crash the industry (not to 1983 levels, mind you) is the already collapsing AAA game market. Square-Enix and Capcom crapping out for that reason is a sign of that.

Eh... the engine was a quad-turbo, not twin turbo. Also, that awesome quad exhaust produced so much heat, that Ford had to put ceramic tiles like the ones found in the Space Shuttle around it because it could melt the body panels.
