But I get what you are saying. The very language of photo ops reads unnaturally. We see too many politicians abuse them and it has made us jaded. But these two dudes seem totally on the level.

Even if it were cynical the good it has done for these hospitals would outweigh it. This doesn't just end at a feel good photo-op. Because of the enormous fan base involved it translates into donations:

There is a good wired article on it but Buzzfeed breaks it down pretty easy. It basically has to do with the way your brain is decoding the color. There are perceptual cues and expectations involved. People who focus on the glinting goldish hue at the top of the original photo tend to have their brains scrambled so

Haha!!! I honestly can't remember if we could even recommend back then. We've been through so many Kinja iterations I have the distinct impression that we may have sent these comments in via telegraph or by some manner of vacuum tubing.

They've been perverted into thinking they are helping their kids but I think if you looked deeper they are just horribly afraid of their family being "abnormal". This is what I find most abhorrent about organized religion. It fools people into thinking they know the absolute truth and that truth then demands a purity.
