The article didn’t say if you can get the plug-in hybrid version on the “Voyager” but that would solve that problem. (Also, 30 miles of battery range and 30mpg after that).

The VW XL1 is what I see, with a hint of the proportions (shortish downward curved hood, long tapered tail) from an early Tatra.
They claim that it will cover 725 km. on a 60 kWh battery, so that works out to about 7.5 miles per kWh.
I can’t vouch for the veracity of the claim, but in their interview on Fully Charged the designers claim an output under ideal conditions approaching 1.5 kilowatts.
