For those of us who travel mostly to and from out of the way places, the advantage of extra range would be to have more charge point options en route. That 15 minutes turns into 45 if you have to go 15 minutes out of your way to get a charge. Eventually, it won’t be an issue, but for now it is.

So, how about a Suzuki SX4 hatch AWD? Available in manual, with a lockable/disengageable centre diff. Decent-ish fuel economy, excellent reliability, surprisingly tossable, though not fast. Early (2009-10) models are beginning to drop into your price range, and some don’t have too many miles on them.
