And yet actual Black people who talk to other actual Black people and remember when Black people started saying it use it just to mean “white girl.” But sure, it’s up to someone outside of the culture to tell us what words me started using decades ago really mean because someone used that word in a different way a few

You didn’t read that as if he was the final straw that made her review her life? It sounds like she was miserable, and he nudged her over the cliff back to some kind of contentment.

WHOA WHOA WHOA — Helping students brainstorm ideas and pointing out issues of grammar/syntax is one thing, but if Jia was the one doing the writing to any significant extent (as implied by the term “ghostwriter”), her behavior was profoundly unethical! She may as well have taken their SATs for them, though that would

How many times has your manuscript about the oppression of white males in the 21st century been rejected?

Uh, or it was just a person who cared about her telling her what she deep down already knew. Not everything has to be so problematic. Sometimes people just care about each other’s wellbeing.

Sophistry is fun but you are complaining about “becky” being racist and couldn’t figure out why I was talking about AA on a AA comment thread so don’t let me get in the way of your pseudointellectual masturbation bang

lol the best part is you think you won this when you keep doing exactly what I was trying to get you to do

My goal was to make it clear you were here for the white-guy concern trolling and get you to say some really dumb shit and you delivered, it’s all good.

No please, if not for me, for the benefit of the human race.

Yeah i too think the real problem driving Trump supporters is racism against white people.

Tell me more.

Yeah especially when racism is against white people, #allbeckysmatter

“I wasn’t focusing on the article”

You are replying to a post about the Fisher v Texas SCOTUS case and you don’t know what AA means in this context?

And you think I’m the one with reading probelms? LOL

More importantly, anyone who knows anything about the SATs knows that you don’t do well on them by simply knowing things. People who score highly are taught to the exam via prep courses. Shockingly, the availability and cost of those prep courses means they are almost exclusively the enclave of wealthy whites.

You don’t even have to have a specific question that’s biased. Wealthier families can afford to pay expensive private tutors and have their kids take the test multiple times so they can get a better score.

The thing is though is that there’s apparently a widespread acceptance of special consideration for legacies, exceptional athletes and students involved in extracurriculars that kind of flies in the face of the objectivity advocated when considering race or class. It has never been a purely meritocratic process and

So, not ‘mediocre student’ unless all students with lower marks are also mediocre.

Only a Becky would leave a comment like this.

I’m pretty sure it’s not the tutoring that she wants to depict as shameful. It’s the ghostwriting of her students’ admission essays.

I have done a lot of tutoring. I’ve never heavily edited, let alone written, any of my students’ essays! Seems like a good cause for shame, to me anyway.

I don’t think it was the tutoring she was ashamed of, it was that she basically wrote their essays for them.
