Tesla sales volumes are still REALLY REALLY low compared to GM and Ford. It seems the point of the study isn’t developing self driving cars per se, it’s developing self driving cars for millions of people, to which Ford and GM are much closer.

And that is pretty much why Tesla is ranked as low as they are. Their strategy depends on old technology, using 8 cameras, but their execution is only using 2. Meanwhile, over in Dearborn & Warren, they’re using more advanced technology, and they’re using it more effectively.
They are not using LIDAR, therefore their tech will always be inferior.
It’s probably the fact that the Tesla stuff isn’t really ready for use on public roads, as Tesla themselves have started to admit, now that they recognize some potential legal liability.

I watched this show, wish they would do a second season

So they get offended by a VW impound lot impersonating pre-game parking, but never had problem with the Lions impersonating a football team?
I will say that we have met their car folks and even worked with them over the years, and that is extremely true. They are thorough, smart people who know their shit. CR just serves a different purpose than what we do, for example. But they’re far better—both ethically and operationally—than the vast majority of…
I’ll reserve judgement until it airs, but I don’t have high hopes.
