Tesla does not want to make a profit on services and parts. They have stated that time and time again.

High financial risks for the insurance translate into higher insurance rates. Higher insurance rates translate into lower sales.

Funny part is service parts have huge markups.  Tesla is missing a huge profit center by not selling them.

You realize that car salesman are not employed directly by the manufacturer right? And their only interest is to sell a car to get a commission?

My parents bought one with T-tops new. It was delivered with shavings in the seats from what they could only assume was a post build install of T-tops.

Now playing

From what I’ve seen the announcers typically mention the driver’s name or car number. There are only 3 types of cars on the track so saying “the Fusion is about to pass the Fusion” isn’t exactly telling anyone anything.

There are cars that say Budweiser on the side too.  Are people under the illusion that they’re looking at a beer can going 200 mph?

People are talking about this from a racing stewards perspective, not an insurance perspective.

Talk about not knowing your market.  Why is this running NASCAR instead of IMSA or WEC?

NASCAR doesn’t use fiberglass.

I don’t think NASCAR pretends these are street cars.

Window nets. Halo seat. Hans. Helmet.

This is before we even get into the fact that the flagging indicated an issue off track and he was probably scanning for that.

Just a accident at a random club track that has nothing major coming up. SCCA shouldn’t pay much attention to this. /s

Also of note: SCCA Runoffs will be held at this track in October.

RE: #2: I think everyone is ok with a “racing incident” if it occurs but dodging vehicles cutting across an active racing surface with no warning is not part of what they signed up for.

How many times have you been asked to “meet halfway” though?

My brother once had a guy do this and then come to the house and offer a price even lower than what they agreed to over email. He turned around and walked in the house. They stood dazed in the driveway for about 5 minutes and then drove 4 hours back to wherever they came from with an empty trailer.

I think this depends on the type of car. A 2k Honda Civic? Fuck off with that inspection and bank BS. A 25k 911? I understand the request for an inspection and wouldn’t expect cash on the spot.

I was replying to someone that was making up production goals for GM that never existed as a deflection for Tesla’s issues. I think bringing up the original timeline for the Model 3 is more than fair. :)
