Eh... I think the OHC 5.4 Modular proved itself as being one of the most reliable engine of it's time offered in truck, especially when GM was in the middle of the piston slap issues and those camshaft eating 5.3. So much for being 'overly complex'.

It was reported yesterday (I don't remember where) that a Ford exec (I think it's Mulally) said they were currently reviewing the business case to bring it in North America, as a cheaper alternative to the Focus. (Maybe to go after Hyundai & Kia's lower priced compact car?)
