Believe it or not, Porsche did, and does, A LOT of engineering for many other companies.

A Porsche 928 (or other '80s Porsche) owner with a sense of humour really needs swap out their steering wheel with this Lada one.

The reason this design failed is that Porsche wanted to put in a water-cooled engine, but the Russians said that Lada enthusiasts would never accept that.

For North America, I would say the Focus. The gap between the 2011 and the 2012 MY is immense. It went from the worst car in the category to one of the best.

Sure, Jeeps, Land Rovers and a few others had been around since forever and a day, but sport utility vehicles were really starting to come into their own as a segment in the late 80s and early 90s. Automakers pitched them as "lifestyle vehicles" for "active people" who liked to go off road and have exciting adventures

It was full of really cool features. Retractable mudflaps, removable glass (all of it!), neoprene seats, variable ride height, etc. Could have been a fun little off-road hoonmobile.
