I’d rather spend $10k-$15k on a good 2.7 shell and use that as a starting platform than the sc. But I totally get what you’re saying

thanks! technically its a karmann though.
to me its about power to weight. 220bhp in my 2164lbs car with 10gal of gas is a rocketship. 180bhp in a 2600lbs car *might* be a case of ‘its fun to drive a slow car fast’
thanks its fun. Its getting a ducktail to replace the teatray, more of an RS/RSR style front bumper instead of the IROC it has now, and will be painted probably a flat dark blue and Im changing the “carrera” script to “porsche” this winter
yes IIRC the first year for M491 turbo look was 74, but again, that would be something any porsche guy would list on a for sale ad I think?
my shell is a 1974. it corner balances with 10gal of gas at 2164lbs. I literally had a spare 83 3.0L in my garage and a 1985 915 that I bought for a song and stuck them both into the shell
thank you!
really? from who? Im honestly curious. I have a friend looking for one.
20k will absolutely buy you a used 3.2 Carrera engine, but would you put that in a car without tearing into it to see if its really as good as the seller claims? that was my dilemma - originally I wanted to buy a 3.6 varrioram out of a 96 993. but you buy an 80k mile ‘low mileage’ unit and its just as likely to need…
this is what it looked like after being torqued. it definitely bent, it didnt break itself though
it will go on an engine dyno this winter pre and post EFI setups so I will totally post the graphs. Im just going by calculations and guesstimates
my biggest concern, other than the state of the engine bay for the miles, the lack of interior shots, the damaged door card/arm rest, the questionable respray, the unknown origins of the SC/Turbo flares, is the fact that since its not a 17 character VIN I cant check it out. I wanted to run a carfax on it, and see if…
yup. porsche shit is not cheap. I replaced everything in the motor, I upgraded to 3.2 Style cams, had them reground to 964 profiles. I had JE 11:1 pistons installed. upgraded to the carrera cam tensions. replaced every nut/bolt all the chains, ramps, etc. and I can show receipts for $17.8k and thats kinda cheap as I…
remember that the newest IDA 3C 40 Weber is now 45 years old. Also, they’re basically race carbs, theres an idle circuit that starts dropping at 3k and theres a full-throttle circuit that kicks on at about 3800 so the car has a really shitty transition where the EFI makes up all the difference.
Crack pipe. Even though it will sell for that in the market today its still a ~180bhp early SC. The best thing it’s got going for it are the 78-79 big port heads that it comes with. If you were to drop 20k on an engine rebuild you could squeeze out an extra 5-10hp from those heads. I just rebuilt the 83 small port…
Wow! A gauge cluster that checks its sensors 16 whole times a second!
No one would ever *coughComcastcough* do that, would they?
Yup. If you haven’t slown all. The. Way. Down. Going into a corner in anything prior to a 996 you are going ass over teakettle off the road
while I get the whole ‘is there to protect the tyranny of the majority from the rights of the minority issue’ it almost would have been nice for HC to win the EC but DT won the popular vote - I think it could have been a springboard to doing *something* about the EC, as it could have been framed as a ‘well dems got…
