Find one and sit in it (or really any new S/Q 5/7/8). The interior materials really are much more premium in person than you’re thinking from the pictures. The interiors of the newer high-spec Audis are REALLY nice places to be for any amount of time.

Weird they don’t let you retract the center screen. My 2017 4M Q7 has a button to retract the screen, its great for longer trips since that screen can be pretty superfluous and having one less source of bright light in your periphery really helps reduce eye strain.

I think the un-addressed question here is....

Having just parted ways with far too many of my own dollars buying some 295/40 r21 tires for my wife’s new (to her) Q7, part of me is resigned to the “them’s the breaks when you buy a car like this” and the other half of me is screaming into the void at spending nearly $1500 (including mounting fees) for a set of

This is bad logic.

Thats sorta the point though. An S63 is definitely no understated, that is by design. The A/S8 definitely IS understated, that is also by design. You’d cross shop them because they fit into the same market segment, but a certain type of person would gravitate to the Audi’s styling/ethos and another type of person

False.

Right? How old does he expect damn INTERNS to be now?

You know what? I think I’m confusing credit cards with my Home Equity LoC. I know for a fact my LoC calculates interest daily because I just read the agreement in detail for stupid and consumer unfriendly reasons...

Many (most?) credit cards calculate interest on a daily basis, so you’re still paying interest.

This.

This is either a bad attempt at sarcasm/trolling or you’re lost. Go back to...I don’t know where you came from, but go back there...

Must be automatic, because the hilly PNW and garbage traffic don’t lend themselves to manual

Just blow too much hot air at this old man, he might blow a gasket on you.

Yes, but the weak factor here is the meatbag behind the wheel, not the capabilities of the car. As others have pointed out. Doesn’t matter how capable the car is, if the driver doesn’t know what they’re doing, they’re gonna crash in the CRV or the R8.

I’ve not read much about chains on the 3.0t ever being a problem. Main issues are the harmonic balancer separating, a finicky plastic coolant pipe and thats sorta it... The engines are pretty damn reliable, to be honest.

LOLWUT?

I know right? There was bluetooth phone connectivity, but no audio streaming. If it weren’t so common for Germans to be at least a generation behind with infotainment I would have been more surprised. but its pretty par for the course for the germans...

Used Q5s are pretty damn reliable, if you forego the 2.0t engine. My 2012 Q5 cost me zero dollars in non-scheduled maintenance* over the course of 40k miles and 4 years of ownership. A 3.2 or a 3.0t, hell maybe even a TDI if you’re feeling saucy, would be VERY reliable, and not particularly expensive these days. Just
