To be fair, I bet Ferrari execs DO cry about it.
I’m sorry, but coming from the Audi world, those parts prices absolutely kill me! Seriously though, add a zero on the end of most of those, David, and you’re more in the ballpark of Genuine Audi parts costs. Must be nice...
“The total weight of the things required to make an acceptable daily driver EV will always be higher than the total weight of the things required to make an ICE-V of roughly the same specific output.”
Ahh, yea I think Polar Moment of Inertia was what I was trying to grasp for but couldn’t recall. Keeping the majority of the weight within the wheelbase makes a huge difference in handling.
But its not AN ECONOBOX. Nobody is cross shopping a Nissan Versa and a Model 3. Stop being dense just to pretend your points are valid.
“The weight of the battery plus the electric motor will always be higher than the weight of an ICE plus the hydrocarbon fuel.”
I can’t argue the back pain issue, its absolutely easier to put my daughter in her car seat in my wife’s Q5 than it is in my A4 and its solely due to floor/seat height and door opening size.
My personal spin on this is “I can totally knock out a vacuum pump replacement before I leave for work and get in on time.”
Yea boxy SUVs really get terrible fuel economy. My wife’s Q5 gets far worse highway economy than my A4 despite being based on basically the same platform as my A4 and having a one-gen-newer drivetrain and engine (and 8 gears vs 6). Its the shape, you need to expend a lot of energy pushing the tall box through the air…
Oh damn. Well carry on then!
But I can fit two kids in my Audi wagon and a double stroller. I don’t need a Yukon and there are cars larger than sedans...
This sounds like two problems. the majority of SUVs (CUVs) aren’t designed to tow, really.
Because these professionals are in the business of making money for their banks, not helping Joe Schmoe manage his personal finances.
Disagree. I’ve financed both my cars at 72 months not because I couldn’t pay it off in 48 if necessary, but because that was the lowest rate and the lowest monthly which freed up some cash for more interesting/relevant things in my life. Like buying a house and starting a family.
My audi wagon has space for kids and dogs (I have one kid and two dogs), and isn’t eleventybillion feet tall.
But the fun is in the journey! Also i think the point of getting the camera wasn’t beacuse it was better than what he had, it clearly is not. Its that it was DIFFERENT. Different is good. Even if most cars are objectively better than Saabs, Saabs are awesome damnit!
You’re stupid. Please go away.
