It’s from Witches of Eastwick and honestly I’ve never read it (love the movie) so I can’t speak to the context. But it illustrates your point regardless.

Have you seen the scripts and books men write for female characters? No woman thinks about her breasts and body that much throughout the day. Ever. If my breasts are bouncing around, I probably don’t have a good bra. Not because I’m arousing myself and loving the male protagonist’s attention.
I’m, personally, tired of men telling female stories because women are often denied the opportunity to do it due to gatekeeping. Why should men be the ones to control the narrative in everything? Especially since men tend to push a rather misogynistic narrative in their works.
Some men write women very well. Very few men in Hollywood do.
Thing is, Lord of the Flies was a response to a particular conceit of British pulp novels which depicted young boys/men being stranded as a fun adventure with little internal conflict. Golding took the subject of entitled British boarding school boys and the kind of savagery he saw in how they acted with each other…
this. i came across a few times of scenes when i could clearly see the fear and/or pain in the woman’s eye. so horrible.
A huge portion of porn is unabashedly misogynistic and often openly racist. It’s those elements that make it harmful.
If you don’t know whether you are watching a filmed rape or not (and so many actresses come forward immediately or years later to say they were raped on camera or had things done to them that they didn’t agree to and couldn’t say no to without losing the entire paycheck from that day) ... is it really ethical?…
I heard someone call a group of his supporters “the 5th avenue crowd”. As in they are the ones that would have stood by him if he shot someone on 5th avenue.
And doctors have a disturbing tendency to trivialize women’s symptoms. Not EVERYTHING is a UTI. Last year I was having pretty much every symptom on that list and knew something wasn’t right. I didn’t have insurance so that was a fun thought. I went to a local doctor and explained my symptoms, my family history of…
Women of color were targeted in their marketing. :(
Ovarian cancer is not detected in a pap test. If you feel you are at a higher risk for development of ovarian cancer you should talk to your doctor about it. They can do an exam for signs of ovarian cancer and possibly order other testing if warranted. Typically, ovarian cancer isn’t found until stage three or four,…
Panty liners
Not to add to your worry, but you express a common misconception. Pap smears do absolutely nothing to detect ovarian cancer. Their only benefit is to detect cervical cancer (or conditions that can lead to cervical cancer). Pap smears NEVER show evidence for or against ovarian cancer. For women at higher risk of…
Unsolicited advice from someone who survived a very necessary estrangement from her own mother: beware of anyone who attempts to convince you that you should be able to look past this. I wish someone had told me 20 years ago that “blood is not thicker than safety.” Thank you and good luck.
Can we just legalize weed already so that cops can no longer use the faint whiff of it as justification for murder (Philando Castile) and sexual assault?
She’s Black. They “smell weed” on us all the time, regardless of if we smoke or not.
If it’s medical, it’s 100% his responsibility to take care of. I’m not my husband’s mom and I don’t make doctor appointments for him.
Last off, his wife probably told him to stop hanging out with you, duh.
