I am not really surprised, in comparison to older titles in the series RE7 feels heavily westernized; taking massive inspirations from western cinema and games, which doesn’t always fly well in Japan.

There’s two good reasons for this; 1) 3ds sold far better than the Wii U, 2) 3ds copy doesn’t have local multiplayer via sharing like some 3ds games meaning you need a copy for each person playing meaning multi-gamer households would require multiple copies while the Wii U version didn’t (me and my wife both had a 3ds

Glad to see my phone will be getting better support from Nintendo than the Wii U did...

Except both Activision and Apple still make a crap ton of money off yearly releases...

I reccommend doing a <5 hour run before Madhouse; the x-ray glasses are invaluable for finding the new coin locations and the coins are completely necessary since you are going to want to have the magnum and attack/defense coins as early as you possibly can, and the circular saw is absolutely amazing it will help you

I like that you felt the need to point this out, but not where she says “provides provide.”

Why not just kill them? In the video tape you have the MG/explosives aplenty pretty much from the start and in the present by the time you get the elevator working you should have both already as well.

Sadly most of the jump scares are scripted events, and typically they involve enemies litterally teleporting to your location...

This works until madhouse, more aggressive enemies will just keep attacking and clipping through the door... I got trapped by two fat molds once in the ship because they stood in front of the door so I couldn’t open it to hit them and perpetually puked through the door and walls until I finally gave up... It reminds

I’ve said this before as well, but traded Evil Within for FEAR; basically I think that Outlast was far more immersive, Alien Isolation has far better AI, and FEAR hit the mark with good gun play mixed with horror.

Another good tip is to use the separating agent on psychostimulants at any chance you have; I found them to be largely useless but getting a chem pack out of them is pretty useful.

You know what, I’d like to take back a little of what I said. Don’t get me wrong, I feel like everything I said about the easy/normal modes of the game is absolutely true; but after spending a few hours in Madhouse I can say that it not only feels like a completely different game it also feels like the game RE7 should

Running Shoes aren’t unlocked by beating the game in under four hours... I beat it in 3:23 last night and never unlocked them; from what I can tell most people seem to have unlocked them after shooting the Mr Everywhere bobbles not clearing in under 4 hours.

I can agree with this, the pacing has some serious issues after you finally leave the main house; between pretty much every other area being entirely linear, the shear abundance of weapons and ammo your given making enemies easy picking and hardly scary, as well as the sudden changes of mood and theme with the Lucas

There is absolutely nothing refreshing about any of the bosses following the second fight with Jack; after that all of the fights boil down to little more than pumping ammo into bullet sponges and running away to heal/load, they are boring, tedious, and very little challenge or fun at all.

It takes massive inspiration from Silent Hill, not even just PT but the original games as well; there is also big influences from Alien: Isolation, Outlast, and FEAR too. Oddly enough I feel like the game is influenced more by those games than it is the original RE games; which isn’t a bad thing per say, the game as

Good boss fights are priceless though, some of the best moments in gaming come from brilliant boss fights; games like Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid, Dark Souls, Batman Arkham, Borderlands, Destiny, Zelda, and even past entries in the Resident Evil series can all be defined by their incredibly well designed,

Eh... I disagree. Most of what connects RE7 to earlier games feels as though it was simply thrown into the game to justify the name. Beyond the lack of lore, which ultimately feels like easter eggs and nothing else, most of the first game’s staple experiences have failed to make it into RE7.

There are a handful of them in the opening hours but after that they taper off.

The two fights with Jack are alright because they offer you unique and interesting experiences and mechanics, but after that the boss fights just boil down to unloading ammo into bullet sponges and dodging attacks for several minutes at a time with nothing really interesting happening...
