I gave up on this until they update the game to a) allowing you to easily scan smaller creatures, like birds, b) make finding missing discoveries a bit easier, possibly by making scans point out the direction of unfound discoveries.

It’s pretty simplified, but it works well enough; the biggest problem is that you need to sacrifice storage for offensive power and if you don’t you can quickly be overwhelmed.
I am all for this, to be honest I haven’t been quite convinced by FFXV yet and think that a couple more months of development could definitely help; plus this will give them one last convention showing at TGS to get some feedback before the release.
That sucks... I’ve sunk a solid 25-30 hours in and haven’t had a single crash yet.
I can agree with your first two paragraphs to an extent, but let’s face it NMS is no Spore; setting aside some technical issues its gameplay is infinitely better than Spore ever was. Sure it needs some work, a little tweaking, and some more content; but it’s by no means a bad game.
Well there is two reasons...
No, at best they intend on a virtual console release... Nintendo just hates the idea of anyone doing anything with their properties regardless of whether or not they plan on doing anything with them.
I never understand why people dislike day 1 patches so much; it’s as if they expect developers to either go on vacation or just move on to a new project as soon as a game goes gold... Of course they are still working on improving the game and of course they plan on adding that work in a patch on day 1.
This is hardly a train wreck yet; it's not like Batman Arkham Knight which had its collectors edition outrigh canceled 4 days before release and then went on to be completely broken on PC for several months... Let's wait until next Friday to label it a train wreck.
I wouldn’t have a problem with this if they simply made your summer games drop non-repeating; getting the same spray four crates in a row has made me pretty salty...
I suddenly understand Niantic’s strategy for server stability: piss off enough players so they leave and reduce server strain...
I was having a blast playing it, then I realize it gives you diminished experience rewards and I went back to regular matches... Got to get those loot boxes, no time for fun.
Early release copies of games are often buggy and problematic these days; hell some games are down right unplayable before day 1 patches come out... This just feels like people making mountains out of mole hills.
There is a difference between creating art and creating a commodity; that difference is the fulfillment of consumers needs and wants. this is why there is a difference between the fine arts and illustration...
I wouldn't say that it's a total failure, I will say however that Niantic is not equipped to handle a game of this size. In many ways I almost feel bad for them, they came into this thinking they could use the experience they had to make a quick cash grab game and get their name out there; I don't think they ever…
Its an example of the conflict between artistic vision and comercial content.
Am I the only person that absolutely doesn’t care about Pokemon Go’s ‘take a penny leave a penny’ form of “multiplayer” I mean is it really that big of a deal that there needs to be rebalancing or meta even? It’s literally one of the least interactive multiplayer experiences I’ve had in a game to date.
You are thinking about this all wrong, NMS isn’t like a procedural rogue-like along the lines of Diablo or binding of Issac where you’re maps are built from a combination of different hand crafted tile sets.
