Upload deserves a spot on this list as well. Fun, thought-provoking, great cast, lots of fun science-fiction ideas thrown around.
Without spoiling anything, this version of the character is far better than what is presented in the film. He’s far more likable, hilarious, and his past shitty behavior is explored and explained. While the film was alright, the show is fantastic, and both myself and my wife really enjoyed it and laughed out loud…
Gotta throw Little Giants and Necessary Roughness in the mix as well.

I 100% thought the same thing when I saw the trailer and had to look it up!
It would be like a reverse COVID where a bunch of assholes would argue that the government can’t force them NOT to wear a mask because first amendment blah blah.
I like James Wan’s horror films because they tend to give us a chance to care about the characters. Particularly The Conjuring and Insidious. They aren’t just lambs for the slaughter. The family members really love each other, and they tend to actually believe each other when they say they’ve seen monsters.
In some ways that’s similar to Wes Craven’s New Nightmare in which the cast and crew of the Nightmare On Elm Street movies are terrorized by Freddy entering the real world.
Black Monday is brilliant. I can’t wait for this.
I 100% agree, and my wife is the exact opposite and likes to schedule every minute of a trip so we don’t miss out on things we really want to do (like tickets or reservations selling out). We end up finding a middle ground that works out okay, but if I had my way, we wouldn’t plan anything and we would just sort it…
My brother and I saw this in theaters when we were teenagers solely based on the title, and we were not disappointed. I need to watch it again.
I think it’s fair to say that things are shifting into a more upbeat direction (thankfully!). Shazam, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman 1 and 2 are all pretty silly fun movies. Although Wonder Woman 2 is prettttyyyy bad, it’s not GRITTY.
This is a helpful and necessary comment.
The Puppet Master series is pretty impressive! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puppet_Master_(film_series)
Check out the book “Disney War” if you really want to dive into the subject. It covers the executive level decision making, but really covers the Eisner years in depth.
“Pass away” just infers dying (Merriam Webster, etc). It doesn’t infer a peaceful death. And yes, taking his own life did hurt his friends and family, which I’m sure he knew it would, so imagine the pain he must have been feeling to be willing to take such an action. My mother took her life when I was 4, and I don’t…
Because if they retrieve the $200m, he doesn’t have to pay them a cent. They are essentially treasure hunting for their own payment. He didn’t agree to pay them anything. He agreed to let them keep a portion of what they found.
Look at it this way... you’re given a short script with a scene between two characters, one young and one old, where the older character says to the younger, “Your father died.” and then it says the younger character cries. The actor has to take this minimal amount of information and try to win an audition with that…
Excited for anything Edward Gorey.
It depends on what you consider a “rut”. If you mean that they aren’t releasing good films... well that’s subjective. But if you’re measuring the rut against how much money they are making, the mask is really important to the merchandising money they’ve made for the last few decades. And of course the last film was…
