How much does a full ev with 300 miles of range cost? You’re looking at a $50k model 3 or an $80k model s for that feature.

Yes, but 300 miles is usually on premium models, not on more basic, affordable vehicles.

Tell that to crap loads of Toyota HVs on the road.

Idiots? No.

My son drives my wife’s old 2006 Civic hybrid which we bought from new. Battery needed replaced at 160,000 miles.   This was archaic battery tech, not modern Lithium based.  Cost $2500 to replace.   Didn’t feel bad doing it as it was the only unscheduled cost the car ever incurred and it is now at 220,000 miles.

Really? There are tons of Prius models out there with 300,000 miles.

Sorry, but I’m not ready to jump on the full electric bandwagon until suitable infrastructure is in place. When I borrowed my dad’s Volt to visit friends and relatives I put a total of 250 miles on the car in a day. I didn’t know how much driving I was going to do that day, and something with even 200 miles of all

“GM and VW are idiots”, you could have stopped there.

Maybe in theory, but they also tend to be fairly reliable despite the complexity. The brakes last forever due to regen braking. Transmission and ICE engines tend to be under low stress due to the torque of the electric engines helping out. Electric drivetrain components are fairly simple.  A lot of old Prius and

GM and VW are idiots, and you really only need to look that “increased cost”.

Neutral: For companies this size, doing their own R&D, it absolutely makes sense to skip as many hybrids as possible.

Hybrids are a terrible half-measure because they have the complexity of two different drive trains that are mashed together. So now, you can have failures in either propulsion system, or in the systems that couple them together.

Significant percentage? Outside of Porsches, name another $50k+ car that has a high manual take rate.

You forget the costs involved in certifying each drivetrain configuration with EPA. If they don't make back the costs to develope and certify they don't do it. It still costs money to put the transmission in the car and design and build the trim and mounts for it. As well as test it with that particular car even

Considering how few cars they're going to sell? Yes. They definitely calculated the return rate on this and realized they wouldn't make any money.

It’s funny because everyone who’s seen the car has said how beautiful the car is. Everyone who makes their decisions based on comments other haters have said are the only ones to say it’s ugly. Draw your own conclusions from that.

I think he’s just getting cold feet.

Goddamn, people will do anything to avoid playing for the Raiders.

I know playing for the Raiders is a lot but openly wanting a better shot at contracting CTE is a bit much.

In related news, my four year old won’t take his nap without his stuffed tiger, has threatened to retire from preschool.
