Actually, that was already possible! This update, even though it warms you not to use it when you can't see your car, is really to let you summon your car when it's too far away and you can't see it. 

But how far can he take this dangerous and unfinished software legally speaking? I guarantee the first Tesla self driving taxi with nobody in it will have some stupid instructions about not using it while unsupervised. Even though that defeats the purpose. 

This is encouraging dumbass behavior. Guaranteed people are gonna summon a car they can't see. Because the feature practically begs for it. The number of times people want to summon a car they can see is too few to matter.
