You clearly don’t understand light refraction and how the eye and a camera lens distort and take in light. This actually works really well. Why the hell do you think OEMs use this EXACT method of concealing their test cars? Search through the Jalopnik archives there is an entire industry devoted to camouflaging cars.

Sadly, it’s not that easy. The camo is specifically designed to hide shapes and confuse both a camera lens and the human eye. You can do a lot with photoshop, but anything meaningful won’t be gleaned until they actually run their cars in the race livery later on.

The camo livery is much more clever than shrouding all of their fancy secrets with intentionally poor lighting. All of the teams are trying to hide details with their “release” photos by using lighting to obscure the fine details they’re afraid teams will copy.
