Without arguing the pluses or minuses of your position, I think it’s a counterproductive one to take at this moment. The vast majority of Americans disagree with you, and some of them already equate any recommendation of increased gun control with an effort to ban all guns. For better or for worse, the 2nd Amendment

1. When Bryce Harper is unsigned in February of next year, I’ll believe that there’s something wrong with the sport. Not wanting to overpay players who are past their prime strikes me as eminently reasonable.

Nicely done.

Who said anything about taking guns away from 50-60 million people? I’m interested in keeping them out of the hands of people like Cruz.

The trivially easy workaround for any mass shooter would then be to not make any threats. The Vegas shooter didn’t.

“Personally, i think the answer is a culture where we both snitch out crazy assholes like this floridaman”

It’s both. I have no love for the NCAA and major college sports in general, on this and many other issues. But the fact that MSU is undoubtedly only one of many schools with this problem is reason to shine a light on them AND start investigating other schools, not to say “sure it’s bad, but it happens everywhere” as

Unless you are trying to argue that benching a player is sufficient punishment for an offense like the one he is accused of, how the hell is his playing time or lack thereof relevant?

You’re not defending Dantonio and Izzo? Who, by the way, even if the full investigation reveals that they broke no laws, were at least tacitly okay with their programs having dozens of athletes accused of rape and sex crimes, and keeping those guys around?

In Chicago particularly, the common retort is “Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, and look at the murder rate.” Which ignores the fact that it’s trivially easy to transport a gun from a neighboring town or state that has looser laws. Smuggling a gun into the country would be a different story.

Okay, I agree with you on that. What confused me was that this article seemed to be pointing out words or expressions that should not be used, period, and I thought you were arguing that the words you mentioned should be added to that list. I agree that you should consider the context, as with every word.

Why am I stuck in the greys and this dipshit rape apologist isn’t?

So what, we’re supposed to eliminate those words from our vocabulary, and then when they’re considered exclusively racist terms and the racists who want plausible deniability use another word we’ll stop saying that one, too? Where does it end?

It’s weird that it’s called “professional” basketball, and a guy who straight up punched a teammate is still employed.

Homeland Security?

This is a smart signing for the Cubs, as now they can be sure that Darvish won’t draw a walk from Carl Edwards in the playoffs.

He’ll be the first and so far, likely only, player to win the MVP and not make the Hall of Fame, right?

It might help with some other issues, but the force of impact on a helmet to helmet hit is still plenty to cause concussions and brain injuries. If the physics of size were the primary issue, then youth football would have nothing to worry about.

It is disgusting that a news outlet would allow an editor to write something so factually inaccurate. There are no quotas regarding the ethnic or any other characteristics of the Olympic team. But of course, the troglodytes who read Fox News will eat it up.

I’m sure she is a well-adjusted individual and a stellar parent.
