Great reminder. I drove a 2009 GT500 in the same week as an E92 M3 with the flappy paddle gear box. The M3 was (likely) better in every imaginable way, but the GT500 was just so raw and visceral, so much fun to be had almost dying. Vw did this in Canada, the continued selling the MkIV Jetta and Golf as the city Jetta and City Golf and marked the price down to $16k, and sold them up until the MkVI came out. It was arguably one of the smarter things they did.
